Casagrande’s PG185 is the tunnelling champion in the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics
In the heart of the Dolomites, at Tai di Cadore, the Casagrande PG185 is playing a key role in one of Italy’s strategic infrastructure projects: the new road tunnel along the SS51 “di Alemagna”, built in preparation for the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
The PG185 tunneling rig is used to perform ground consolidation and reinforcement through deep drilling at both tunnel entrances. The PG 185 is a dual-power version, with an electric motor used to avoid pollution inside tunnels, increase efficiency, and reduce noise emissions for greater sustainability. This versatile rig is equipped with a long mast with a rotary head stroke of up to 18 metres and a double boom with slew ring kinematics and is designed to operate with maximum efficiency.
Its agile positioning, high drilling speed, and ability to work continuously on 24/7 shifts make it an indispensable asset in underground operations. The machine’s efficiency is further supported by Casagrande FleetMaster for remote monitoring and assistance.
A special thank you to Società “Consolidamenti e Fondazioni” and “Vianini Lavori” for choosing Casagrande as a trusted partner in this critical milestone toward safer and smarter mobility.
