At Fiumefreddo, near Catania, Palingeo is deploying a Casagrande C6 XP-2 crawler drill rig to construct 300 mm diameter micropile bulkheads supporting the excavation of an artificial tunnel. This work is part of RFI’s strategic project to double the Taormina–Giampilieri–Letojanni section of the Messina–Catania railway, transforming ~42 km of alignment (≈35 km in tunnels) and significantly reducing travel times while increasing capacity.

The C6 XP-2, designed specifically for high-precision micropile and anchoring operations, is ideal for tight-access, confined zones close to tunnel works. Its innovative articulated “Front-the-Wall” mast, Smart Power Management (SPM), and Load Sensing hydraulics deliver superior efficiency, fuel economy, and drilling control—critical for vertical and inclined bulkheads.

We take this opportunity to thank Palingeo for choosing our equipment and wish everyone a happy August holiday.
