Casagrande C5XP-2 debuts at A2A solar project in Sicily (Italy)
The very first unit of Casagrande’s next-generation C5XP-2 crawler drill is now at work on the A2A renewable energy site in Castellammare del Golfo (TP).
Equipped with a 160 mm auger, the C5XP-2 delivers fast, precise dry pre-drilling for H-profiles, forming the foundations of an advanced solar tracker system. The project calls for approximately 2,600 piles to support 770 solar panels, providing around 10 MW of clean power.
The latest C5XP-2 introduces an advanced radar-based operator protection system that automatically halts the rig whenever someone enters the danger area. This innovation eliminates the need for traditional safety cages, greatly improving both visibility around the machine and the operator’s freedom of movement on site.
By combining breakthrough safety technology with high productivity, the C5XP-2 redefines the standard for compact crawler drill and delivers a new level of performance for foundation projects.
Special thanks to Air Service, Casagrande equipment dealer for Southern Italy, for their valuable support in this project.
